“Избирательные” мысли…

Вчера у нас в Орегоне был большой выборный день. Можно сказать, с промежуточными итогами, перед основной схваткой за “Белый Дом”, которая состоится в ноябре.

Честно говоря, итоги удивили меня самого…

Дедушка Сандерс, — это такой хороший пример Жириновского, но made in USA, ужасно много популизма. Честно говоря, я думал, что он выйдет из гонки “еще позавчера”. Тем не менее, дедушка уперся рогом и вчера в нашем штате, который, поверьте мне, очень демократический штат, то есть, поддержка демократов и Обамы была очень серьезной… Обама был у нас два раза точно и собирал большие толпы народа…

Впрочем, может быть, именно поэтому?!..

В общем, Дедушка в Орегоне вчера “сделал” Бабушку..

Но я не демократ и за них не голосовал. Трамп же, у нас в Штате всех своих ближайших соперников “порвал”.

Если говорить о Клинтон, то я вот чего не понимаю, почему она и ей подобные, да и избиратель в некотором роде тоже, почему они все привыкли к мысли, что если она является женой Президента, как в случае с Killary, или имеются родственные отношения, как в случае с семейством Буш, почему все это позволяет и дает всем им право самим тоже претендовать на то, чтобы начать управлять Государством? Замечу, практика, как раз, говорит об обратном. Президентство Буша младшего, управление Госдепом, вряд-ли все это можно назвать удачными примерами управления… В случае же с Клинтон, так это вообще нонсенс какой-то жуткий, Она собственную семью толком организовать не смогла…

И тем не менее, с упорством достойным лучшего применения, они продолжают лезть в “Белый дом”…

Никакого “Овального” кабинета! Что-то очень небольшое и, желательно, — с железными решетками на окнах!

Это она точно заслужила!

“Water The Bamboo”. The Article about Portland “Trail Blazers”…

PORTLAND, Ore. — Bamboo is tolerant to drought, but balancing water with restraint is tricky business, especially if you’re a young NBA player. This was the message delivered to the Trail Blazers’ roster last October after the team heard from Greg Bell, the author of “Water The Bamboo: Unleashing the Potential of Teams and Individuals.”

The bamboo becomes a running gag among the Trail Blazers, and it’s the source of quite the shtick between All-NBA point guard Damian Lillard and reserve Luis Montero.

“I would always tell him, ‘Did you water your bamboo?,’ like, every day,” Lillard says. “So he started singing, like, ‘Waaaaater the Bamboooooo.'”

Montero has played all of 42 minutes as a rookie, but he apparently excels as the team’s musical director — though he speaks broken English. The song metastasizes into various riffs and remixes. Pretty soon, Lillard begins calling Montero “Water,” and Montero calls Lillard “Water.”

In colloquial Spanish, attaching an “ito” or “ita” to a name or object is a term of endearment, literally meaning “little.” So Allen Crabbe is now “AC-ito,” and Maurice Harkless is “Mo-ito.” Eventually, everyone on the team is just “Water-ito.”

Just after the All-Star break, Lillard gets a call early in the morning on a “blackout day” — designated as such by coach Terry Stotts in lieu of “voluntary,” so players understand they can stay away from the practice facility in suburban Portland without being perceived as unmotivated. It’s Montero, who doesn’t drive, hasn’t dabbled with Uber and whose normal ride is away.

“‘He says, ‘Water-ito, I need a ride to the gym,'” Lillard remembers.

“You know it’s a blackout day,” Lillard tells him.

“I need to get the work in,” Lillard recalls Montero saying.

Lillard drives to Montero’s apartment, and they head to the facility. While Montero works out on the floor for a couple of hours, Lillard lifts in the weight room. Lillard has been concerned about Montero’s wardrobe, so after they finish up, they hop over to Saks Fifth Avenue. “He hadn’t been suited up,” Lillard says. “‘You get you a black one. You get you a blue one. You get you a gray one. You can wear the suit. You can wear a nice button-up shirt with the sport coat and some jeans and nice shoes.’ I was just breaking it down for him.”

By the time Lillard drops Montero back home, it’s dark — but Montero is now suited up.

“We had spent the whole day together,” Lillard says. “I had picked him up at like 9 o’clock. And by the time we got home, it was 5 o’clock.”

Все закончилось… В Портланде есть команда!..

…Как я и предполагал.

Но, несмотря на, казалось бы, совсем безнадежную ситуацию, Portland “Trail Blazers” боролись до самого конца.

Я посмотрел статистику. Окончательный счет игры 121 — 125. Blazers не уступили ни в чем. Почти ни в чем…

Хуже был только процент точных бросков. 41% у Blazers и 51% у Warriors. Еще не попали 10 штрафных.

Все остальное было на высоте. Процент попаданий 3-очковых бросков одинаковый. Хотя Blazers забросил на 2 броска больше.

У Портланда есть команда.

Очень хорошая команда.

The Portland Trail Blazers traveled to Oakland tonight to face the Golden State Warriors in the direst of must-win situations: down 3-1 and needing a victory to force Game 6 at home. They didn’t get it, but they settled for the consolation prize of a hard-fought defeat, acknowledged by all who saw it as the best effort imaginable. The mileage on that may vary. A 4-1 series loss is still a loss. But Blazers fans can be assured that their team gave the Warriors everything they could handle up until the final moments of the game and the series. Golden State’s execution ended up outstripping the Blazers but their hearts never did.

Game Flow

The Warriors started out this game with a couple priorities: getting Klay Thompson into scoring mode and making sure the Blazers had to deal with plenty of screens as they did so. Both plans worked. Thompson ended up scoring a couple quick buckets on his way to an incredible night. (He would finish the game with 33 points on 13-17 shooting.) The Blazers had trouble getting around screens to get to him so they ended up switching to stem the flow. Remember this. It worked in the first period but would come back to haunt the Blazers later.

With Thompson’s early burst subsiding and no Warriors stepping up to fill the gap, Portland’s offense started to tell. Damian Lillard hit a couple of threes in the period as did Maurice Harkless, the latter kicking off a huge night for Portland’s supporting cast. The Warriors made a late-quarter run to squeeze 27 points from their formerly-stalling offense but the Blazers topped them with 30 for a 3-point lead after one.

Portland’s second unit continued their super-excellent streak in the second quarter. Their defense, bolstered by Allen Crabbe patrolling the perimeter, was superb. Shaun Livingston scored inside via superior height but otherwise the Warriors bench had trouble getting anything going. Meanwhile Crabbe and Al-Farouq Aminu poured in threes while CJ McCollum struck from mid-range. A rare bench-inspired 10-0 run set up the Blazers to withstand Thompson returning to life, cashing in a trio of three-pointers on his way to 13 points in the period. Lilllard countered with free throws and a couple more shots to bring his first-half scoring total to 19. When the dust cleared, Portland led 63-58. The 5-point edge wasn’t a huge comfort but Portland being on track for 120 and Lillard for 40 were both hallmarks of victory over Golden State. There was hope.

Последняя игра сезона…

Сегодня Portland “Trail Blazers” заканчивают свой сезон, который уже сейчас можно назвать очень удачным.

В сезоне 2015 — 2016 никто из экспертов не ожидал от команды ничего. Потеряв четыре стартовых игрока, покинувших команду прошлым летом все эксперты в NBA, как один, писали что этот сезон команда из Портланда будет формироваться и знакомиться друг с другом, и закончит сезон выиграв не больше 25 — 28-ми игр.

Ни о каких играх Playoffs от команды не ожидал никто.

Я сам писал о том же самом.

Команда не только прорвалась в Playoffs, но и играет во втором круге. То есть, сделала уже больше того, что получилось сделать в сезоне предыдущем, с составом игроков, от которого эксперты ожидали многого.

Во втором круге Playoffs, команда “попала” на Чемпиона прошлого года Golden State “Warriors”, для которой этот сезон рекордный, потому что в этом сезоне команда проиграла всего 9-ть из 82-ух игр.

И даже здесь игра Blazers не обошлась без Чудес. Я ожидал что Portland “Trail Blazers” проиграет все четыре игры и спокойно разъедется по отпускам.

И снова, — ошиблись все.

Команда уже сейчас сыграла четыре игры. Счет по играм 3 : 1 в пользу Warriors, но он спокойно мог быть 3 : 1 в пользу Blazers. В предыдущей игре, для победы над Portland “Trail Blazers” Чемпиону понадобилась “тяжелая артиллерия” в лице игрока, который вчера получил звание MVP — Most Valuable Player (Самый Ценный Игрок) Stephen Curry. Это звание он завоевывает второй год подряд. До него этого в NBA тоже не делал никто. В предыдущей игре Blazers перевели игру в дополнительное время, и в эти 5 минут Stephen Curry 17 очков из 21-ого. Удержать его было просто невозможно. Stephen Curry был травмирован и в предущих трех играх не играл. По хорошему, все специалисты писали и говорили о том, что игроку следует подождать и восстановиться после травмы колена. Травма была достаточно серьезной и в будущем может проявить себя. Однако, команда из Портланда играла так, что Чемпионы понимали, без своего лучшего игрока они победить не смогут.

The Portland Trail Blazers fell to the Golden State Warriors 132-125 in Game 4 of their best-of-seven playoff series tonight. Defeat left them behind 3-1 with their hopes of victory dimming. The good news for Portland: despite the loss, they took the champs to overtime. The bad news: they led by 14 in the first period and held the advantage most of the game before succumbing to a tie score at the end of regulation. The game was in their grasp and they couldn’t hold it.

The worse news: Stephen Curry. He’s back.

Like 40 points, new-NBA-overtime-record back.

Curry changed everything in this game. Portland came into the extra period armed with their copy of Robert’s Rules of Order, ready for a strident debate. The Warriors brought a bazooka. When the smoke cleared Curry had scored a record 17 points in OT, bringing his team an incredible victory. Portland walked off the floor knowing every footstep was carrying them towards the end of this series.

Жаль…

Но я рад тому, что у команды из Портланда уже сейчас есть будущее… Вполне может быть, что будущее это будет “светлым”.

И еще немного про чудеса…

После того, что случилось вчера, можно с большой увернностью сказать, что в этом сезоне лимит на Чудеса у команды из Портланда исчерпан.

Вчера, Portland “Trail Blazers” выиграли у Los Angeles “Clippers” и прошли в полуфинал Playoffs NBA

Однако, в следующем круге Blazers уже ожидает команда, которая в прошлом году завоевала титул Чемпиона, а в этом сезоне проиграла всего 9 игр.

Можно с большой уверенностью сказать, что Портланд проиграет эту серию со счетом 4 : 0.

И даже учитывая это, команда из Портланда в этом сезоне сделала намного больше того, чего от нее ожидали все те, кто так или иначе наблюдает за играми NBA. Потеряв четырех основных игроков стартового состава, команда сумела сделать значительно больше того, что она сумела сделать в сезоне предыдущем.

Но, возвращаясь к тому, с чего я начал, — Чудеса все закончились.

Осталось только расслабиться и получить удовольствие от четырех оставшихся игр в этом сезоне.

С уверенностью можно сказать только одно, у команды есть будущее.

P.S. Кстати, одно из 9-ти поражений над Warriors принадлежит как раз Blazers

…И снова — мимо…

Перед началом Playoffs я написал вот это, и, честно говоря, думал, что после первого круга команда из Портланда разъедется по отпускам.

Снова ошибся…

Проиграв первые две игры с разгромным счетом, Blazers вернулись в Портланд и… выиграли две игры дома.

Перед сегодняшней игрой, которая должна была играться в Los Angeles, то есть, для Blazers это игра на выезде, один из экспертов баскетбольных написал:

Unless you’ve been living under six tons of whipped cream in a soundproof cave underneath the world’s biggest rock, you’re already familiar with the stunning turn of events in the first-round playoff series between the Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers.

1.The Blazers beat the Clippers on Monday night to even the series at 2-2. This was Portland’s best…night…ever. Or at least for this season.

2. The Clippers lost Chris Paul and Blake Griffin to season-ending injuries on the same night. This will not make the list of Top Million Moments in their lives.

When this series began the Blazers were peeking under the crack of the door, seeing victory’s light spilling out and wondering how they could finagle their way to it. Now that door stands wide open. The Clippers sit slumped in the corner, wounded and seemingly unable to stop the Blazers from coming in. This is Portland’s time.

If the Blazers plan to seize the opportunity, Game 5 is critically important. It may be the most important game Portland has played since the year 2000. (Yes, that includes Game 6 versus Houston in 2014.)

If the Blazers win Game 5, a broken and beaten Clippers team walks into the Moda Center Friday night with no reasonable expectation of success. They’d have won 0 road games in this series, 0 games without their two stars. If by some miracle they did manage to win in Portland–a miracle is exactly what it would take–they’d need a second straight victory to seal the deal. Meanwhile the Blazers would already have set the precedent of winning in L.A.. Portland would have experienced everything the depleted L.A. lineup could bring twice over and would be prepared for it. Homecourt advantage or no, Game 7 would be no better than a toss-up for the Clippers.

Про неестественный отбор…

Смотрю вчера телевизор и вижу знакомое лицо.

Сначала я подумал, что мне показалось. Лицр было не только очень знакомым. Оно, ко всему прочему, было знакомым настолько, что мне показалось, я видел это лицо не только очень близко, но даже у себя в квартире.

Я не обознался.

Эта добрая девушка была кандидатом на позицию одной из наших помощниц, которые проживают постоянно и должны помогать нам 24/7. Она уже проработала почти месяц и должна была вселиться с Первого Мая.

Я с самого начала всем говорил, что, скорее всего, все что ее интересует, — это даже не работа, а квартира. Место проживания.

Пронесло…

Вчера ее повязала полиция и я даже не беру в кавычки слово “повязала”. Потому что ее не только повязали, но и уложили лицом на землю. При себе эта дама имела заряженное что-то, с 30-тью пулями в обойме.

Gang violence in Portland is continue to run ahead of last year’s record levels, despite an increased focus by the police to prevent it.

Around 20 people suspected of having been involved in gang related incidents have been arrested over the past two weeks on weapon and other charges. Thursday night, five people were arrested and four guns were seized at a gathering in Brentwood Park in Southeast Portland with known gang associates.

“Our focus is on harm reduction. It’s taking a toll of everyone, but we will continue to do it,” says Assistant Police Chief Kevin Modica.

But the stepped up efforts did not prevent the Gang Enforcement Team from accepting its 55th case of the year on April 19.

That’s 16 more than the 39 accepted at that time last year. By the end of 2015, GET had investigated 193 incidents of gang violence, 75 more than the record of 118 set in 2012.

The situation was discussed at the April 22 meeting of the Portland Peace Collaborative, a community forum where the most recent GET statistics were released. They included eight cases accepted for investigation over the past two week. Three people were wounded in two of them. In three others, three houses were shot at, all for the second time this year.

Some of those at the gathering expressed alarm that two of the people arrested in Brentwood Park were women. One, Brenea Sante Williams, 24, was carrying a loaded handgun with a 30-round magazine in her hand when police showed up. She was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Loaded Firearm and Possession of Weapons in a Park.

“It’s very concerning that young women are engaging in this kind of behavior,” says forum co-chair Antoinette Edwards, director of the city Office of Youth Violence Prevention.

Edwards praised the police for their efforts to reduce gang violence and called on the community to report what they know about previous shootings.

“We’re talking about preventing violence here, but there are still a lot of unsolved homicides,” says Edwards

Officers attempted to talk to the group and several people began walking away.

Police said they talked to two women, Brenea Williams, 24, and Sequoia Turner, 23 who were armed with handguns.

Police said Williams had a loaded handgun with a 30-round magazine in her hand when police approached her. Officers ordered her to drop the gun and get on the ground, where she was taken into custody.

Turner had a loaded gun in her waistband, according to police.

Police said they found another gun lying on a picnic table. Officers also seized a gun from a man who was released from custody pending further investigation.

Williams was charged with unlawful possession of firearm, possession of a loaded firearm, and possession of weapons in a park.

Turner was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of a loaded firearm.

Three other men, Clemeth Porter, 28, Jaronn Moody, 23, and Brandon Johnson, 24 were taken into custody on parole violations.

Плохой из меня прорицатель…

…Но я совсем не расстроен, скорее — наоборот.

О чем это я? — спросите вы.. О баскетболе, об NBA, а если совсем быть точным, то о команде, за которую я “болею”.

Как-то, совершенно незаметно пролетел сезон в NBA. Команде Portland “Trail Blazers” осталось сыграть всего одну игру регулярного сезона. Вот это я писал до начала сезона.

Сезон почти закончен, и я могу сказать, что я совсем “не попал”.

Несмотря на потерю четырех основных игроков, по сравнению с прошлым сезоном, команда в этом сезоне сыграла так, как этого от нее не ожидал никто.

Перед началом сезона, абсолютно все специалисты от баскетбола в NBA предсказывали Portland “Trail Blazers” выиграть 25-28 игр и спокойно закончить сезон командой, которую нужно будет усиливать “новой кровью”, быть так называемой lottery team. То есть, быть командой, которая окажется в самом низу турнирной таблицы. У этих команд есть самые большие шансы усилиться за счет новых талантов.

Команда Portland “Trail Blazers” сыграла потрясающе. Осталось подождать результатов последней игры, но уже на данный момент ясно, что ниже седьмого места команда не упадет. Сейчас она на пятом.

Это значит, команда будет играть в играх playoff.

Конечно, шансов пройти во второй круг playoff у команды никаких, но, даже уже сейчас можно поздравить команду Портланда. Одну из самых “молодых” команд в NBA.

P.S. Кстати, в прошлом сезоне команда тоже была пятой. С тем составом игроков, которые покинули команду прошлым летом.

Победа “Timbers”…

Я уже писал, что команда Портланда завоевала сегодня Кубок Америки (MLS Cup)

Это видео самого примечательного, того что произошло в финальной игре.

Я смотрел матч, который оказался достаточно скучным. Все самое интересное произошло в первые шесть с небольшим минут игры.

А первый гол был забит буквально на первых секундах матча. Абсолютно непонятные действия голкипера соперничающей команды.

В общем, — смотрите!

Timbers выиграла со счетом 2 : 1

Я даже представить себе не могу, что сейчас будет твориться в Downtown центре Портланда.

Портланд замер в ожидании…

Завтра весь Портланд будет смотреть телевизор и ожидать Чуда.

Впервые за много лет, команда из Портланда будет играть в Финале.

Но это не баскетбол и не американский футбол. Как ни удивительно, но — это обычный футбол, или то, что в Америке называют соккер (Soccer).

Проще говоря, команда из Портланда будет играть в Финале Кубка Америки.

Играть будет команда Timbers.

Портланд ждет…

Очередная стрельба в учебном заведении…

На этот раз, — очень близко…

В результате стрельбы в кампусе муниципального колледжа Ампкуа (Umpqua) в Орегоне погибли 10 человек, получили ранения 20, передает CNN со ссылкой на местные власти.

Стрелявший был убит. Мотивы преступления и иные подробности пока не сообщаются.
«Когда мы приехали, то нашли несколько пострадавших в разных аудиториях. На место прибыли сотрудники правоохранительных органов и обезвредили стрелявшего», — сказал корреспонденту телеканала начальник пожарной команды Рэй Шауфлер (Ray Shoufler). Он добавил, что двое раненых скончались по дороге в больницу.

Полицейские приступили к выяснению обстоятельств инцидента. Ведется поиск огнестрельного оружия и взрывчатых веществ, в операции задействованы кинологи со служебными собаками. На место также выехали сотрудники ФБР.

По предварительным данным, стрелявшим был мужчина в возрасте старше 20 лет.

Колледж Ампкуа находится в окрестностях города Розберг, примерно в 200 километрах к югу от Портленда. Как отмечается, он не является традиционным учебным заведением. По данным телеканала, в 2013-2014 учебном году средний возраст студентов был 38 лет, их общее количество 13,6 тысячи.

При этом лишь у 740 студентов была полная нагрузка, 2437 обучались на условиях сокращенного дня. Более 10 тысяч студентов поступили в колледж по муниципальной программе обучения взрослых.

Предсказания до начала сезона…

Совсем недавно закончился сезон 2014-2015 в NBA, а я уже сейчас могу сделать прогноз о том, что…

Чемпионом NBA в следующем году будет San Antonio “Spurs”

Команда Portland “Trail Blazers” в следующем сезоне не выиграет больше 30-ти игр.

Менеджмент этой команды, имею в виду Portland “Trail Blazers” уволит главного тренера в марте, а может быть даже и в феврале месяце.

Почему я так думаю?

Уже сейчас ясно, что главный менеджер команды провалил “межсезонье” полностью. Команда потеряла всех своих лучших игроков, которые благодаря которым команда последние три сезона попадала в Playoffs. Сегодня команду покинул самый лучший игрок команды и один из лучших во всей NBA. Это я об игроке, о котором писал не один раз.

А для всех болельщиков Portland “Trail Blazers” это настоящая трагедия.

Lillard had wanted to coordinate the timing of a meeting before leaving town, but Aldridge, understandably, was slow to respond. He had a second meeting with the Lakers to focus on that night, then a meeting with the Miami Heat and team president Pat Riley. There were extensive text messages shared between Aldridge and Lillard in what constituted a modern-day conversation, and the message was made quite clear by the time Friday night rolled around: whether the Spurs or the Phoenix Suns, Lillard was convinced Aldridge was gone.

None of which is to say Aldridge made a bad choice; in fact, going to the Spurs is a tremendous choice. This combination of top-tier talent both young (Leonard, Aldridge, Danny Green) and old (Duncan, Tony Parker and perhaps Manu Ginobili) is as tantalizing as any we’ve seen, and the Golden State Warriors surely know their title defense just got a whole lot harder.

But the way in which Aldridge left Portland was unfortunate for all involved, and mostly because the loyal fans who welcomed him as a 20-year-old in 2006 were told one thing and forced to endure another. This came from Aldridge less than a year ago when he had played his second season with Lillard and made the decision not to sign an extension.

“I’m happy to stay, happy to be here, happy with the direction the team has gone the last year or two,” Aldridge told The Oregonian on July 8, 2014. “This has no impact on my interest in staying in Portland. I just want to get a five-year deal. I feel like that’s the best decision on my part.

“I don’t want it to be perceived that I’m not happy or I’m not staying on because I’m not signing a three-year deal … It’s just financially smarter to wait … and I’m looking forward to signing the five-year deal when the chance comes.”

Aldridge, second in franchise history in points, first in rebounds, and fourth in games played, later added, “I want to be the best Blazer – ever.”

Clyde Drexler’s status is safe, though. Aldridge blazed a different trail and left a complicated and confusing legacy behind.

Вчера, Portland “Trail Blazers” выиграли, все-таки, одну игру.

Правда, поскольку счет в серии 1-3, серию можно считать проигранной.

Осталось подождать до завтра…

Три игры и три поражения.

Впрочем, именно этого я и ожидал. Команда Портланда, сильно ослабленная травмами,так и не смогла ничего противопоставить сопернику.

Осталось сыграть последнюю, четвертую игру в серии playoffs, но — только для того, чтобы, согласно правилам, закончить сезон после четырех поражений в серии.

Сезон, который так хорошо начинался, завершается на очень минорной ноте.

Впрочем, — это спорт!

А что.будет в сезоне следующем, жизнь покажет.

Если доживем…

Ожидания перед стартом…

Завтра Portland “Trail Blazers” сыграют свою первую игру в playoffs. И, могу честно сказать, ожидания, отнюдь не радостные.

Команда будет играть с Memphis “Grizzlies”, с той командой, которой были проиграны все 4 игры основного этапа Чемпионата NBA.

Самая “трудная” команда досталась. И, переживания мои даже не об этом. Уж, очень много травм у команды из Портланда.

Впрочем, это уже playoffs. Слабых команд уже не осталось.

У Blazers были все шансы играть дома первые две игры и значит, теоретически, играть дома последнюю, седьмую игру, если до этого дойдет.

Но, — не случилось.

Подождем до завтра.

Завтра команда Portland “Trail Blazers” сыграет последнюю игру регулярного сезона. Игра будет играться завтра, но уже сейчас я могу предсказать результат игры.

Проиграет. Игра будет проиграна.

Проиграет, как и три предыдущие игры. И, несмотря на, казалось бы, отрицательный результат, — это все ни в коей мере не расстраивает болельщиков команды, и меня, в том числе. Дело в том, что уже неделю с небольшим назад, команда Портланда заняла твердое четвертое место в турнирной таблице и из-за того, что оказалась победительницей в своем дивизионе, результаты всех последующих игр никак не влияют ни на что.

Неясность только в том, с кем команда будет играть в первом круге playoff. Но это будет зависеть не от “Blazers”. Вариантов здесь множество. В зависмости от результата игр, завтрашнего, последнего дня, соперником команды может оказаться одна из четырех команд конференции. Посмотрите, как плотно размещены в турнирной таблице комнды, которые занимают со второго, по шестые места в таблице. Внимание обращайте на количество проигранных-выигранных игр. Несколько команд с абсолютно одинаковым количеством в этом и их место в таблице будет зависеть от того, как команды играли между собой в сезоне.

Команде Портланда остается только одно, — ждать. И, вот здесь, интрига сохраняется, буквально до окончания последних игр регулярного сезона, который заканчивается завтра.

Из-за нулевой важности для команды результата в последних играх, естественно, в последних играх все лучшие игроки команды в играх этих не участвуют. Ссылаются, на травмированные конечности и части тела игроков, хотя, можно даже и не ссылаться на травмы. В команде, в этом сезоне, травмы просто превышают все возможные и невозможные пределы. Только в предпоследней игре, вчера, травмированными оказались три игрока команды. А, всего, перед завтрашней игрой, из 14-ти членов команды, травмированы 7 (семь).

Такие вот, совсем нерадостные мысли перед началом игр playoffs.

Rama, Packy’s son, was known for his mild temperament and bold tempera paintings
Rama, a 31-year-old Asian elephant known for his sweet disposition and Jackson Pollock-like painting technique, was humanely euthanized at the Oregon Zoo today after animal-care staff determined they could no longer help pain and mobility issues resulting from a 25-year-old leg injury.

Rama sustained the injury in 1990, when older female elephants began to push the young, sexually maturing bull out of the herd, something that occurs naturally in the wild, according to zoo deputy director Chris Pfefferkorn. During this process, Rama fell into a moat that in those days surrounded the elephant area.
“It was a serious injury,” Pfefferkorn said. “Many would have said this would be the end for Rama, but he was a survivor and went on to have a great, enriched life.”

Pfefferkorn said the zoo elephant enclosure was redesigned following Rama’s accident, and the moat was filled in. It was unearthed by construction workers last year during excavation for the Forest Hall portion of the zoo’s new Elephant Lands habitat.

Rama compensated for the injury by placing more weight on his right front leg, causing him to walk with an unusual gait that was immediately noticeable to all who knew him well.

“Instead of his weight being distributed evenly over four legs, it was distributed over three,” said zoo veterinarian Tim Storms. “That puts a tremendous amount of pressure on the other legs over time.”

The rebound was grabbed by LaMarcus Aldridge and forwarded out to Damian Lillard. By the time it reached Wesley Matthews, there was one step remaining in his season. When he tried to explode past Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki, Matthews’ left Achilles tendon snapped.

Later that night Aldridge looked both numb and resolute as he listed all of the good things that his Trail Blazers would be missing from Matthews. “He’s the heart and soul of the team,” said Aldridge in the Portland locker room last week. “He sets the tone for us in every way, talking to guys and keeping everybody in it. So he does everything for this team.”

He spoke as if these were the latest qualities he was going to have to take on, in addition to his team-leading 23.2 points and 10.5 rebounds this season.
Matthews, his closest friend among the Blazers and the leading source of their inspiration, would have to be replaced. Aldridge, the best player on the team, was going to have to do more in order to replace him.

The future had become instantly more difficult. But then, Aldridge appears to prefer it that way.

Playing through the pain

Aldridge wasn’t supposed to be in uniform on the night of his friend’s injury last week. In the days after Jan. 19, when he had been forced out of the game after trying to steal the ball from DeMarcus Cousins, Aldridge was doubting whether he would be back anytime soon. “It was like a very sharp pain that I had never felt before,” he said. “I knew it was something serious. I couldn’t even hold the ball. I was shaking my hand, it just blew up. Once all the blood cleared out, then we saw it was a tear.”
He was diagnosed with a radial collateral ligament tear in his left thumb. It was announced that he would undergo surgery which would sideline him for six to eight weeks. In his absence the Trail Blazers lost at Phoenix and then at home to the sub-.500 Celtics. Aldridge could see the impact of his absence, as if they were revealing his importance from a new point of view.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A man was shot and killed in North Portland Monday and homicide detectives were leading the investigation.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting just after 2:30 p.m., at North Blandena Street and Commercial Avenue. They arrived to find a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

The victim died at the scene. He was later identified as 29-year-old Marquis Delon Chaney.
Police said Chaney lived in the neighborhood. An autopsy was planned for Tuesday.

Investigators said “limited information” indicated that the suspect or suspects left the area after the shooting.

Witnesses told KGW they heard 4 to 5 gunshots and saw a man running from the scene who appeared to be around 25 years old, or younger.

Homicide detectives, criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division and the Medical Examiner were helping with the investigation.

Just two days earlier, a man was shot and wounded in a nearby area of North Portland. He later died at the hospital and homicide detectives continue to investigate.

Police have not said if they think the two shootings may be related.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Workers at a Central Oregon landfill became suspicious when former Gov. John Kitzhaber and his fiancée, Cylvia Hayes, showed up to dump some trash last week.

The suspicious workers called authorities after the first couple paid a visit last week.

Timm Schimke of the Deschutes County solid waste department tells The Bulletin that sheriff’s deputies poked through the couple’s trash for about an hour. He says it appeared they dumped old campaign signs and a mattress or box spring.

Schimke says the couple arrived in two vehicles and stayed for two or three minutes.

He told KOIN 6 News, “It looked like someone was cleaning out their garage to me. There was a mattress and a box spring. It didn’t look nefarious. It was people dumping garbage.”

Нашему, теперь уже экс-губернатору сильно не повезло. Не знаю, под какую такую руку он попал, но от сообщений на прошлой неделе о том, что им заняллось ФБР, сегодня появились сообщения о том, что им теперь занялись и налоговые органы.

А с его, теперь уже женой, все просто. Появились сообщения о том, что ее обвиняют в… воровстве.

Воровала она у благотворителей…

BEND, Ore. — Cylvia Hayes faced theft allegations involving a Central Oregon charity, according to police reports obtained by KGW.

Records show the police report was referred to the Oregon Attorney General’s Charitable Activities Section more than a decade ago, but never prosecuted.

“Here’s somebody who pretends to be real sweet and needs your help and then just takes your money,” said Bend business owner Fred Swisher.

Swisher reported the alleged theft case to Bend Police on June 27, 2001. KGW found the incident through a public records request. Most of the documents have been destroyed because the case is so old. The police narrative reads, “Hayes is alleged to have defrauded Swisher.”

Swisher, who owns Bend Pine Nursery, remembers Cylvia Hayes as “charming” as she fundraised for an environmental charity in Central Oregon. He can’t recall the name of the organization.

“She was a little vague on where the funds would go, and how they’d help anybody and what they would be applied to,” said Swisher.

Initially, Hayes wanted Swisher to contribute by writing a check. But instead, the Bend landscaper agreed to consign one-thousand ponderosa pine trees. They agreed to split the profits. Half would go to him. Hayes would get the other half for her charity.

“She just kept it all,” said Swisher. “In 25 years now, there’s never been a bad check, never been a theft, except for her.”

The police report estimates the loss at $300. Bend Police referred to the A.G’s Charitable Activity Section. When contacted by phone, the former Oregon Department of Justice investigator assigned to the case said he didn’t recall why it was dismissed in 2001.
Hayes did not answer the door at her Bend home. She hasn’t been seen in public in several weeks.

Governor John Kitzhaber and his fiancée, Cylvia Hayes are facing federal and state criminal investigations surrounding allegations of conflict of interest.

Hayes previously admitted to a sham marriage and plans to build an illegal marijuana farm in Washington State. The 2001 theft case is just the latest revelation into Hayes’ checkered past.

“I think if you stir the bushes over here in Bend, there’s probably way more than me,” said Swisher.

Достаточно любопытный документ…

I am announcing today that I will resign as Governor of the State of Oregon.

It is not in my nature to walk away from a job I have undertaken – it is to stand and fight for the cause. For that reason I apologize to all those people who gave of their faith, time, energy and resources to elect me to a fourth term last year and who have supported me over the past three decades. I promise you that I will continue to pursue our shared goals and our common cause in another venue.

I must also say that it is deeply troubling to me to realize that we have come to a place in the history of this great state of ours where a person can be charged, tried, convicted and sentenced by the media with no due process and no independent verification of the allegations involved. But even more troubling – and on a very personal level as someone who has given 35 years of public service to Oregon – is that so many of my former allies in common cause have been willing to simply accept this judgment at its face value.

It is something that is hard for me to comprehend – something we might expect in Washington, D.C. but surely not in Oregon. I do not know what it means for our shared future but I do know that it is seriously undermining civic engagement in this state and the quality of the public discourse that once made Oregon stand out from the pack.

Nonetheless, I understand that I have become a liability to the very institutions and policies to which I have dedicated my career and, indeed, my entire adult life. As a former presiding officer I fully understand the reasons for which I have been asked to resign. I wish Speaker Kotek and President Courtney and their colleagues on both sides of the aisle success in this legislative session and beyond. And I hope that they are truly committed to carrying forward the spirit of bipartisanship and collaboration that has marked the last four years in Oregon.

SALEM, Ore. — Although John Kitzhaber is currently embroiled in ethics and criminal investigations surrounding his work with his fiancee, Cylvia Hayes, he leaves behind a lasting legacy that includes decades of public service and contributions that transformed the state.

Prior to becoming governor in 1994, Kitzhaber paid his political dues in the house and senate before being elected to the states highest office.

Following his work as an emergency room doctor, Kitzhaber was elected to the Oregon House in 1978, then the Oregon Senate in 1980. He served three terms in the senate, eventually becoming Senate President.
His first term as governor was in 1994. He was since elected in 1998, 2010 and 2014.

Kitzhaber was one of the first advocates for government-run health care. He pushed the plan on the national stage — including an appearance on the Today Show in 1988.
He also pushed for health care reform, joining President Clinton at the White House in 1994, just after he announced he was running for governor.
Kitzhaber was chief author of the state’s government-funded health care plan, known as the Oregon Health Plan. It brought health care to the poor and became a model for other states, which he mentioned in his resignation speech.

“We have transformed our health care system, improving access and quality while lowering costs through our new coordinated care organizations, ” said Kitzhaber. “Tonight over 95 percent of Oregonians will go to bed knowing they have health insurance coverage.”

Recently, the governor took serious heat for the botched Cover Oregon website.

Kitzhaber also made headlines when he issued a reprieve for a convicted murderer scheduled to die by lethal injection, saying he wouldn’t allow the death penalty to be carried out in the state while he was governor.

Governor Kitzhaber focused on education, introducing plans to help at-risk children and their families.

Kitzhaber has been a vocal defender of the environment. Perhaps his biggest environmental achievement was the Oregon plan for salmon and watersheds, which is helping to restore threatened salmon species.

Kitzhaber was known as much for the bills he did not pass as the ones he did.

As governor, Kitzhaber was never afraid to veto bills. During his first two terms, he got the nickname “Dr. No” for his record-setting 202 vetoes. At the end of his second term, he said that partisanship was making the state ungovernable.

Адам, Соломон, Китцхабер… Список очень неполный и, думаю, будет продолжаться, пока существует Человечество.
