ROSEBURG, Ore. — A Roseburg resident is cleaning up the mess, after a tornado, yes a tornado, touched down near Roseburg Tuesday afternoon.

Sheila Nielsen, who lives just north of Roseburg, said she looked out her window and saw the funnel cloud touch down.

It broke a chain link fence and threw a canopy into a boat next door, according to Nielsen.

No injuries were reported.

Weather service officials have classified it an EF-0, meaning it had wind speeds somewhere between 65 and 85 miles per hour.

The National Weather Service in Medford says they are checking old records to make sure, but officials say they are not aware of ever getting a tornado report in the southwest interior of the state.

A tornado and three funnel clouds whipped Oregon last week, including an EF1 storm that damaged buildings in McMinnville and two cold core funnels that twisted over the southern Willamette Valley.
